Developments In The Design Of Propulsors And Propulsion Systems
Year: 2000 Language: english Author: P.W. de Heer Genre: Research papers Format: PDF Quality: eBook Pages count: 453 Description: This publication is based on the lectures held during the WEGEMT Summer School on Propulsors, held in June 2000 in Delft, and organised by the department of Marine Technology of the Technical University Delft. The intention of the Summer Schools is to give refreshment courses for young researchers both from inside and outside the Universities. The participants have experienced a very interesting School, with up-to-date presentations held by lecturers from Universities, Research Institutes, Equipment Suppliers, Design Offices and Yards. The lectures dealt mainly with the fundamental aspects of ship propulsion, but also practical aspects like the costs of propulsion and the production of propulsors were handled. The discussions after the lectures were vivid and informal, and a real exchange of information between researchers and people from practice took place. The excursions to Lips and Marin have contributed to the further understanding of research and production of propulsors. We trust that the contacts built up during this School will be continued in the future. We hope that the written version of the lectures as presented now, will be a reference for the participants and other readers in their daily work.
