MRV Plan (Monitoring, Reporting, Verification) guides
Year: 2017 Language: english Author: DNV GL and others Genre: Guide Format: PDF Quality: eBook Description: The EU MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, Verification) regulation is on the way to making an impact on your fleet. Without a verified EU MRV plan, you could find some of your vessels fined or even locked out of EU or EFTA harbors. To avoid this, ship-specific monitoring plans need to be submitted for verification by 31 August 2017. On July 1, 2015, the EU MRV regulation (Monitoring, Reporting, Verification) entered into force. The regulation means that ship owners and operators must annually monitor, report and verify CO2 emissions for vessels in excess of 5,000 gross tonnage calling at any EU or EFTA (Norway and Iceland) port. Data collection takes place on a per voyage basis and starts 1 January, 2018. The reported CO2 emissions, together with additional data, are to be verified by independent certified bodies like DNV GL and sent to a central database managed by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). The aggregated ship emission and efficiency data will be published by the EC by June 30, 2019, and every consecutive year thereafter. Additional info: The MRV regulation of the European Union (EU) requires ship owners and managers to prepare a monitoring plan for each of their vessels that call ports within the EU. Furthermore, the prepared plans have to be submitted to a verifier by the end of August 2017.
