The 5,000 dwt short sea cargo ship MS Kvitnos has left China and is on its way to Norway, joining its sister ship MS Kvitbjørn to become the only two vessels to travel between Asia and Europe solely on liquefied natural gas (LNG), the ships’ owner and operator Nor Lines says. The vessels were built by Tsuji Heavy Industries shipyard in Jiangsu, and are powered by Rolls-Royce pure-gas engines. MS Kvitnos has left the Malacca Strait, and is en route to Cochin, India, to undergo bunkering. It will make one more bunkering stop in Cartagena, Spain, prior to arriving in Norway in August.
