Chinese shipbuilder Jiangnan Shipyard has received an order from domestic owner Tianjin Southwest for a very large gas carrier, Clarksons Platou Shipbroking said in its weekly report.
The contract stipulates for the 86,000 cbm vessel to be delivered in later part of 2021 and includes an option for an additional vessel, the report said.
The order is being reported shortly after Jiangnan booked a construction gig with Taiwanese shipping major Evergreen Marine Corp. Namely, the yard has secured orders for four firm 2,500 TEU feeder container vessels due for delivery in 2021.
Based on VesselsValue’s data, the shipbuilder has 24 vessels under construction, predominantly being built by compatriot companies. The newbuilds include four LPG carriers being built for Ptredec, two LPG carriers being built for Firtune Oil, two midsize LNG carriers being built for Jovo Energy, followed by four ultra large containerships ordered by COSCO Shipping Lines and three by Oriental Fleet International.
