Medcenter Container Terminal in Gioia Tauro, Contship Italia’s premier hub port, recently welcomed the ultra large container vessel (ULCV) MSC Erica. Operated by Switzerland-based Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the 19,170 TEU ship made an extra call while en-route from Asia, before heading on to Bremerhaven. Measuring 398 meters in length and 59 meters in width, MSC Erica has a deadweight of 200,148 tons. Built at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering shipyard in South Korea in 2016, MSC Erica currently has a market value of USD 138.8 million, VesselsValue’s data shows.
