Description: There is an old saying that says "necessity is the mother of invention/' and I sincerely believe that it applies to scratch-building ship models. A scratch builder does not rely on ready-made products for his model, but makes them through his own effort and ingenuity from any raw material he may have on hand. If it is made carefully and to scale, his scratchbuilt hatch cover, lifeboat or capstan will be perfectly suited to the model under construction. This book is mainly about my own brand of scratchbuilding ingenuity and a view of the models that I have built with it over the years.
