He spent the majority of this time on nuclear submarines or in shore billets in support of the Nuclear Propulsion Programme. On leaving the Navy in 2003 he worked as a Health Physicist at H M Naval Base Clyde. He retired in 2015 and still lives in the area. Over the years he has written a number of books about the Clyde region, the naval history and about submarines’ in particular. Many of his extensive collection of old photographs and postcards of this area have been used in these books.
